Rachel & Gunar's new house

Went to Lawrence over Memorial Day and had a great visit with Monica and Rachel. Gunar is in Alaska working with a summer soccer program. Anywho....I got to see the house that Rach and Gunar have signed a contract on and hopefully will be the proud new owners of at the end of June. It is so cute and is just perfect for the 2 of them. It has wood floors in the bedrooms (2) and living room, new windows, an awesome deck and a nice yard. You would not believe how clean and nice it is inside and out. As an added bonus it is within walking distance of Mass Street! Perfect! I am sure that as soon as they get settled in they will want everyone to come for a visit. Hope you all are having a great summer so far and will try to check in on the blog more often. Love to all....

I went home for a few days before summer school started which was nice, but then the rest of my family LEFT ME to go to the river, including the dog....so make sure you give my mother a hard time about leaving her only daughter the one weekend shes in town to go to the river. well I guess thats all from here, I need to get back to reading. talk to ya all later

house keeping

hey youse guys. I noticed that we were getting some spam comments (the ones marked "anonymous" with links to what I hope are just gambling sites, but I'm not gonna be clicking them all to be sure!)

So.. I changed the blog to moderate comments. It doesn't really mean anything to you, but it will email me whenever an anonymous comment is made, and I can approve it if it is one of you yahoos who haven't logged in, or deny it if it is spam.

Nicole will head home Sun. Summer school starts on Mon.
Had a great visit with Larry. Up till nearly 2 am.. A little wine and a lot of bull.. it was fun. Nicole thinks the 2 of them should try to plan a routine brunch, like once a month. I think that would be great.. hope the do it. He's babysitting a couple plants for her.
Ty is entering an art show at school with some of his photo.. I need him to post some of them on the blog too.

Welcome Ellen!

So glad that you are finding the blog! Don't worry about messing up or not knowing everything at first, most of us sisters found it pretty challenging at first but it has really been fun. Don't know where Jeremy went. He was the only "boy" to venture on but David said he was going to have Hali show him how to get on sometime. Hope that he does. Did you all know that Hali got braces and they were green and yellow when I saw her on Sunday. Guess I missed that somehow. Hopefully Teresa will get on sometime soon. Her computer is sick and in the shop at the moment. Glad everyone enjoyed the pics of Mom. Will have some hard copies for you all soon. Will bring some to DC this weekend and hopefully see you Ellen and will give you yours then. Later all.

hi from Berkeley

Hello to all from Nicole's. As you'll soon realize, it's me Kath, who forgot her password to the blog so I'm using Nicoles. Thanks so much for sharing the pictures and all from Mother's Day. I was there in my heart and thoughts. Physically however I started off flying to Oakaland at 8:30 am and was at Nicole's place by 10:00. We got all her things put in storage and did some cleaning. She's at a review session for a couple hours now and then we will head to visit Larry. She wanted to come too so we will stay till about 8 ish and then I'll bring her back here (she wants to be within walking distance for her final at 9 tomorrow). I'm going back to Larry's to spend the night (it's about 12 miles from here). Nicole has 3 plants she'll leave with Larry to take care of until she gets into her apartment. We are heading down to southern CA after her final (about 11). She will come back up on the 21 (Sun) and starts summer school Monday, oh and she works Mon am (4hrs). Busy girl.....I'm so proud of her. She is hoping to work 28 hours a week the first 6 weeks of summer school when she only has one M - W - F class then she have to see how busy she is for the second 6 weeks as she'll have 2 classes. A total of 12 units for the summer.
We stopped by the woman's house she'll be staying st for 2 weeks until she can get into her apartment June 6. We hope they can get in the weekend prior but no promises. The womans house is about 2 miles or so from campus. It is a real cute but small cottage with a lot of aniques and neat garden area with ferns, vines and flowers. There are several little sitting areas around in the gardens. There is a small loft, long and narrow with a full size bed, TV and lots of windows. The woman has been very sweet, I didn't get to meet her as she's in Scottland until the 21st. I think it will be a great short term arrangement. I'm also sure Nicole will love her cat. There is no wireless internet but the woman said Nicole is welcome to use her computer any time. I am relieved knowing she has a safe place to stay.
I didn't get to see the inside of the new apartment but we drove by, it is only 2 blocks from her old one, so again fairly close to campus and there is covered parking under the building (of course thats another $50 a month). Got to have that way to work though. Everything is soooooooo terribly expensive up here. This nothin fancy 2 bedroom apartment is $1700 a month, not including parking or any utilities (except water) They won't need a land line phone but will need wireless internet so the cable package to include basic cable and DSL is $103 a month. Money, money, money.......Thank goodness there's 3 of them at least to share the costs.
Oh, and Nicole's emmissions light came on yeasterday in her Honda so who know what that means, anything from an O2 sensor to a catylidic(sp) converter to the muffler. At least it is running well, no signs of trouble except the light so after talking to a few mechanics we are driving home tomorrow. I've got a parent class to teach Wed pm scheduled for about 80 families so I can't miss work......
Well, I am rambling killing time until Nicole gets back so maybe I'll get back to my book......pretty interesting "Animals in Translation" ... Using the mysteries of Autism to decode animal behavior. Written by Temple Grandin (she's Autistic herself, I've head her speak). She has a PhD in animal science and has designed probably 1/2 the cattle handling systems in Canada and the US.
Well, hope all is well with all of you.... Cindy, We will be at the river next weekend, May 20 to the 23 with the whole group of friends. Come on out. I'll have to get some other dates for you too. Happy for you that school is about out and you can relaxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx. Pam have a great birthday, Let me know how that new decade is... I hear it's really pretty good. I'm not too far behind you. My love and best wishes to all the rest of you too.
Love Kath

To all our Mama's

Happy Mothers Day to you all!! I am glad you like your flowers Mom, small token for a big feeling. I love you very very very muchly and am glad that YOU are my mommy. I am not sure how you survived us, but you seem to be sailing right along. I promise I will slow down a bit as to not worry you, but man-o-man is my life fun, crazy and hectic sure but fun none the less. To all my Aunties they say it takes a village and with all us kids running around it is amazing you aren't all in the "Looney Village" you'd think we'd have driven you crazy by now!!! I know not a lot of families are as close as ours and I can't imagine it any other way! When I tell my friends about my summers in New Mexico (yes I said New Mexico cause I can't spell that blasted Cities name)they are impressed because they are fairly sure none of thier relatives would have taken them for so long!! Aunt Cindy I do still thank you for that! Some of my very favorite memories are from those summers, some of my best adventures that is for sure. Who else can say they made a giant gecko out of sand at white sands, or have seen a real green egg fresh from the chicken? I will never forget the begging that Jessie and I did for that puppy who got the wild hair to attack a chicken in Truchas, it took some tears but Richard gave that puppy another shot (at least until we were gone, then who knows I guess). Anyway, I am rambling as well you all know I tend to do just know that weather it was sitting all night in an ER room with me, teaching me how to mold clay, or helping me get up the nerve to parasail you all are great moms and aunts and I hope you had a GREAT day!!!!! HUGS TO ALL!
Love ya!
The Monkey

Happy Mother's Day to all the mothers in the family. Took these pictures at Mom's today. Had a great day with her, David's family and Teresa. Went out to eat and then back to the house for awhile. On a side note...it was 35 years ago this week that Mom had her cancer surgery. She also had a check up this week and mentioned that milestone to her doctor, the very same one that did the surgery so long ago. That afternoon she received the beautiful rose bouquet and the card read " Happy Anniversary! I think it was the best thing that I have ever done. Love, Mick" Guess in some ways we can thank him for all the Happy Mother's Days we have had but then again, Mom is too onery for much of anything to get her down. Looking forward to next weekend and Jakes graduation party and then off to Colorado to see if turning 50 really is as painless as everyone tells me it is. Love to all of you. PS: Thanks again to my daughters for the beautiful tulips and for making me feel like such a special mom everyday of my life.

Happy Mother's Day

Happy day to all you wonderful woman who have children! You all are incredible! I think we, the children, have all turned out pretty amazingly! It has been great reding all the posts from everyone. I am really proud of you all! I do hope that the students out there wading through finals get plenty of rest, soak up all the knoweldge possible, and truly excel in the last part of the school year. Your posts help me remember why I do not want to go back to school. Thanks! Monica, Good luck, Break a leg, Saliente! The buisness looks great! I cant wait to have my photo shoot! Mama, school is almost over, may the powers of the universe help you to obtain the energy to wow the kids the last couple weeks of school. Aunt Pam, Happy Birthday a little early! 36? That is not quite the number a little birdy told me but... have a great one! Aunt Kathy, we really need to try and get together sometime. Think we have a free weekend that is the same?? Please tell those High School grads Congratulation! I am proud of them. And tell them they need to join the blog! Later Girls-Jermey if you are reading these, Be a presence! You are the only male Sprenkle on this. We would like to hear from you too. If you are feeling out numbered get your brothers to join!
Love you all

Quick Peek..

Hi everyone-
I'm so glad this seems to be working for people. Things here are good, if hectic, but such is the life of a full time worker/full time student. The semester is wrapping up pretty well. I took 5 classes and worked full time for the first time ever, soon I'll see how my GPA shakes out and decide if I can keep that pace through next May-- graduation baby! Then gradschool. Ha! Before all is said and done you'll be able to call me Dr. Aimee and I'll be blogging from archaeological sites around the globe. I think I'm done being in a library for the rest of my life, and am really looking forward to getting the schooling/experience necessary to teach and "do" archaeology. I've already gotten some nibbles from different places that do cultural resource management, so I'll probably start with that while I work my way though grad school. (CRM is like... say you wanna build a mini-mall, in most states you have to do an archaeological survey to make sure you're not building over some big piece of history) and I'd be on that team.

Sarah's juuuust about finished w/ her nursing program. She's been interviewing for a really wide variety of positions, and is trying to decide what the best fit for her will be. We had a really amazing conversation recently in which she explained her hopes/fears about nursing. I think that people in her care will be really lucky because she understands the huge responsibility that caring for another human being is, and how precious life is. I'm lucky to be with someone so neat, that is for sure. She'll finish up her last few classes this summer, along with an internship program. She'll take her nursing boards in September and begin working in October.

What else... not a whole lot. School and work takes so much of my time that as it winds down I'm trying to reconnect with good friends, and make time for social stuff. I'd like to work out some kind of trip out to see you yahoos this summer-- maybe a California trip to see Uncle Larry too, I'll keep you posted.

Life rolls on, and I find myself contemplating things like moving to an area that I want to live in on a more permanent basis, raise kids, the whole kit n' caboodle. Lots to think about with that sort of responsibility, (not to mention my, er, unique circumstances) so I figure we should start the thinking now.

Love love love to you all, and please know that while I don't always take the time to comment, that I LOVE reading even the most silly posts from you guys. Makes me feel not so far away.

xoxoxo

The ball is rolling FAST!!!!

Well I guess when you decide to go public with a new business people start to line up. I have six things in the very near future and I am actually getting paid for some wooo hoooo! Blue room has booked a few sittings this week and weekend it should be fun fun fun. Tomorrow I am shooting my friend Pauls band Within at their first concert, we are still working out the details of this but he is paying for my film and my gas there so that is a start if nothing else it is more exposure and more for the good ol' portfolio. I will also be doing some posed shots for him and cover art for his up coming and might I also say AMAZING album. Mom I think you would love him I will get you a copy of his CD. Also I have my friends sister and her daughter who will be paying me 20 bucks for the sitting and just over what I pay for the sheets they get, another girl I don't know and her son who I will be charging 30 for a 1 and a half hour shoot and I am still working out the sheet price for her. Then the big one is a girl who wants me to shoot a modeling portfolio for her, it should be very good exposure and good money as soon as I figure out how much I am going to charge her I threw out 300 bucks and she didn't seem to flinch so lets all hope. I am not quitting the day job just yet but it is definitely a shot in the arm knowing that people I don't even know like my work and want me to do things for them. On a personal note everyone start laughing...I am to be in my very good friend Theresas wedding on July 1st. And yes I will be wearing a dress, it is lilac and something about an empire...I dunno, supposedly I will look great in it, the fitting is next week, it is a good thing I love her cause you all know me. Other than that I am doing well and am ready for lake season, my good friend has a pontoon boat and an invite has been made so it should be a FUN summer. Yes mom, I already bought the sunscreen now I just need to remember to use it!! Aren't we all having fun with this site? I know I am, but where did my sissys go? Aimee is having exams right now and her head hurts so think happy thoughts for her and Rachel I am sure is busy with all things soccer, I have been meaning to go help her with hobbits one of these Saturdays. That is all for now! Have a great weekend all, be safe!

Nicole's not going to be homeless

Hello out there! This IS pretty neat.... Well I am breathing a little easier as we found some temporary housing for Nicole from May 21 - June 4-5 when she can get into the new apartment. A good friend of ours has a cousin that lives in Berkeley, she about 60 and lives by herself. She said she would be delighted to have Nicole and thought it would be fun. Nicole gets to stay in the loft and she's already given Nicole a key as she's leaving for Scotland Thurs and will be back late the 21st. Nicole said she's really nice, has cats and is vegetarian...they'll get along fine. I'm flying up there Sun to help move things into temp. storage and I'll drive back with Nic. on Tues. She'll stay down here till Sun. BUT Doug, Ty and I head to the river Fri through Tues the 23. busy, busy busy. Hope you all have great weather and good times for Mom's Day and Jakes grad. party....... Be safe and happy.

Cinco De Mayo

WOW! Looks at the new members. Lets see what is up with me? I have started Blue Room, and we will be having our first shoot here in a week or so for a friend of mines band Within. He needs some promo head shots and cover art so we are going to work on that. My dad is sending me a new camera so that is awesome...ummmm what else? I went on a date with a comedian...that was funny...won't be seeing him again but it was funny. Just not the right style for this girl, oh well...ummmm yeah that is about it! I am going to my friends house tonight for tacos and movies. She has a four year old son who I am sure will challenge me to some sort of dual, he is awesome...I think I might let him win tonight...ha ha! Laters! Oh yeah where are the Sprenkle men??

Way to go people! We are bloggin' fools now aren't we? God knows there are still more Sprenkles out there that may figure it out and join soon.

Nicole and Linz~ wow I am impressed with all of your college news. Glad things are working out for both of you. Nicole, I think I have a big refrigerator box you could move into for a couple weeks. I could collapse it down and send it? Or why not just move in with uncle larry? Hmmm. Linz, can't wait to see your newest works. Hang in there with the stuff you don't like to paint etc.. I know it must really be tough. I can't imagine having to do art you don't like to do. Sometimes it is hard enough to come up with the art you do like. know what I mean? Saw some of your mom's newest stuff last weekend. Wow. You come from a very talented mom.

Hey Kath, happy, happy birthday on Monday. Did you do anything special? I am so glad that I won't be having a birthday this year. I am officially 36 for life. Am planning a trip to Canyon City around the 21st and a trip to Lawrence over memorial day weekend and then out to see Cindy in June. Footloose now that the dreaded tax season is over with.

Guess that is all for now. So glad to have the 2 Foster women and LinZ on the blog. Keep in touch when you have a chance. Some of us don't have much to do but check the blog everyday! Love to all. pb

Hello fellow Sprenkles! ^.^

Huzzah! This is your niece, cousin, misc. relative, ect., Lindsey! Good to be active in the blog world these days. Anyway, finals are next week and I have about 4 oil paintings to finish by friday, an art history final on thursday, and a psychology final on wednesday. No sweat. I AM a bit worried about oil painting. I really have mixed feelings about that class as I love to make fun paintings about pop culture or the human figure but when it comes to still life and landscapes I just want to quit. I suppose I'm just not interested in the subject matter. *le sigh* Oh well! I'm really excited about my classes next semester but methinks I shall save that for another blog. Oh! In other exciting news, one of my wearable sculpture pieces will be featured in a national textbook. I'll be sure to model it for the next Sprenkle gathering!

I suppose I've written enough. Ta ta!
